Grade: Intermediate
Of the three known compositions of Richard Jones, who was leader of the orchestra at the Drury Lane Theatre in London, only one is devoted to keyboard music: "Suits or setts of Lessons for the Harpsichord or Spinnet", published about 1732.
The various pieces from these suites, which have been selected for this album of moderate difficulty, are particularly tuneful. An invaluable compendium of 18th-century dance forms and rhythms.
