Gajdos: Serenade & Menuet

Gajdos: Serenade & Menuet
Our Price: £8.50

Grade: Intermediate to Advanced

Two accessible and tonal solos for the intermediate bassist. They would be ideal for both educational and concert repertoire, with supportive and interesting accompaniments.

Serenade was composed in 1967 and revised in 2009. It is written in the style of the many Baroque compositions played by the orchestra at the Bishop's Palace in Kromeriz (Czech Republic) which would have been conducted by Pavel Josef Vejvanovsky (1640-1694).

Menuet was composed in 1974, in a similar Baroque style to the Serenade, with a strong rhythmic drive and forward momentum. A variation of the opening material is introduced from bar 70, bringing the piece to a strong and confident conclusion.
