VS Music Supplies is a home-based business and therefore makes minimal impact on the environment.

Driving

I don't deliver goods myself, rather I get the Royal Mail to do that for me, thus keeping carbon emissions from my vehicle out of the atmosphere.  When I do drive, I use a car in the lowest bracket of emissions.  Most of my packages go to the post office on foot, but sometimes go by car.  You can see photos of my route on the blog: http://vsmusicsupplies.blogspot.com

Paper

85% of the paper I use is recycled, the remaining 15% is sourced from sustainable forests and from manufacturers who comply with the ISO 14001 environmental standard.

Printing

All my print cartridges are refilled or recycled.

Packaging

I use brown wrapping paper for most of my parcels - this is environmentally a good option as the paper is not bleached and can be recycled.  The advantage of this for you is that I can keep my parcels to a size which means they fit through many postboxes, so you don't have to drive to the post office to collect it.  I actually spend more time on packaging than most mail order businesses as a result.

The packaging I receive from suppliers is recycled, either in my own parcels or at the local recyling point, or even composted.

I use brown windowless envelopes for all other post, thus minimising the impact of their production on the environment.

At present I still use sellotape to wrap my parcels, though when my stock is exhausted I am looking to switch to a more environmentally friendly option.  I also use bubblewrap for some parcels - not ideal but again I will look for an alternative in due course.

Music

Recycled paper content in music books is increasing, but it is not universal.  Given the patchy nature of this, it is not yet possible for me to indicate which products contain recycled paper.  Check on the back of your book for details.
